Ludwik Fleck, el filósofo y científico polaco que influyó tanto sobre la obra de Thomas Kuhn con sus nociones de "estilo de pensamiento" y "colectivo de pensamiento", sostiene en su escrito principal, La génesis y el desarrollo de un hecho científico, la posición de que el pensamiento es centralmente producto de una mente colectiva. En este artículo se presentan las concepciones epistemológicas y su circunstancia vital, como introducción a la noción de mente colectiva. Posteriormente, se objeta la existencia de una mente colectiva —a la que se supone innecesaria para los fines que se propone Fleck—, y se propone que sólo los individuos poseen las estructuras epistémicas que caracterizan a los estilos de pensamiento —eso que puede llamarse "mente"—, y por lo tanto, los únicos que las utilizan para construir nuevo conocimiento —"pensar"—, en el seno de diferentes colectivos de pensamiento, y en la interacción con sus miembros. Individuos, que pese a su pertenencia a esos colectivos, son únicos e irrepetibles. We will present in this article his epistemological conceptions, and his vital circumstance, as an introduction to the notion of collective mind. Later on, the existence of a collective mind is objected —assuming it is unnecessary to Fleck's purposes—; we propose that only the individuals possess the epistemic structures characteristic of the thought styles —the so call "mind"— and therefore, that they are the only ones that uses them to build new knowledge —to "think"—, in the interior of different thought collectives, and in interaction with their members. These individuals, in spite of their adscription to those communities, are, for this very same reason, unique.
