Sumario:
La biología reproductiva de Melanerpes rubricapillus es pobremente conocida. Se presenta la primera descripción de los huevos, cavidad de anidamiento y polluelos del Carpintero Habado (M. rubricapillus) en Colombia, con base en observaciones de cinco nidos encontrados entre 2017 y 2019 en el Campus de la Universidad del Valle, Cali. La postura fue de tres huevos blancos ovalados sin manchas, con eclosión de uno de ellos. El tiempo de permanencia del polluelo en el nido fue de 30 días. Aquí proveemos información de relevo de cuidado paternal en el nido durante la incubación y desarrollo de polluelos, y comparamos nuestros resultados con especies relacionadas del mismo género.

The reproductive biology of the Red-crowned Woodpecker (Melanerpes rubricapillus) is poorly known.
