RESUMENEl objetivo de esta revisión documental es realizar un análisis teórico del concepto de turismo y desarrollo sustentable, haciendo énfasis en una de sus formas más recientes conocida como desarrollo sustentable en el turismo, y mediante la identificación de los principales conceptos expuestos por autores reconocidos. Se hizo una revisión exhaustiva de la literatura correspondiente al tema en los últimos 20 años. El carácter de este trabajo es analítico interpretativo.
