Generalities of granulose cell tumor in mares
There are different ovarian pathologies that decrease the reproductive capacity of mares where neoplastic processes or tumors in the ovary in the equine female are very frequent; being the granulosa cell tumor (TCG) the one with the greatest presentation corresponding to 2,5% of all neoplasms present in horses. The (TCG) represents an economic problem in breeders of high genetic value due to the reproductive time lost in the mare, the high costs of diagnosis, treatments and sometimes the need to discard a breeding female. Due to its high impact on the equine industry of the country and the world it is important to have up-to-date physiopathology information to make therapeutic decisions based on scientific evidence. The objective of this article was to make a systematic review on TCG in mares. For this, information was searched in various databases, using search words such as: tumor de células de la granulosa en yeguas, granulosa cell tumors in mares, patologías ováricas en yeguas y fisiopatología del tumor de células de la granulosa, ovarian pathologies in mares and physiopathology of granulose cell tumor. Finally, this work concludes that the physiopathology of TCG in mares remains unclared due to the multiple factors that may be involved and that its diagnosis depends on the association of clinical manifestations, ultrasonographic examination, hormonal profile results and histopatology.
