La patencia infundibular es una enfermedad presente en los dientes equinos, consecuencia de malformaciones en el desarrollo debido a un suministro sanguíneo limitado, afectando la cementogenesis y la actividad ameloblastica. El presente trabajo reporta un equino, hembra, sin raza definida, 2 años de edad, encaminado al centro de odontología equina (COE, FMVZ/USP). Al examen clínico fue evidenciada una fístula externa al lado derecho de la cabeza, junto con fractura del elemento dental 508 y exposición precoz del 108. En el examen radiográfico de esta zona, se evidencio un área de esclerosis, lisis y absceso apical, junto con una comunicación retrógrada del infundíbulo. El presente trabajo reporta un equino, hembra, sin raza definida, 2 años de edad, encaminado al centro de odontología equina (COE, FMVZ/USP). Al examen clínico fue evidenciada una fístula externa al lado derecho de la cabeza, junto con fractura del elemento dental 508 y exposición precoz del 108. En el examen radiográfico de esta zona, se evidencio un área de esclerosis, lisis y absceso apical, junto con una comunicación retrógrada del infundíbulo. Este caso demuestra que una de las causas de infección apical, en los premolaes y molares maxilares, es la patencia del ápice infundibular; su tratamiento puede ser conservativo mediante el desbridamiento y posterior restauración infundibular.
