El objetivo de esta revisión es describir las limitantes del desarrollo agropecuario de la Altillanura basado en su suelo y analizar las alternativas de uso y mejoramiento del suelo, asociadas a la producción de cerdos a campo abierto, que puedan mejorar las características físicas, químicas y biológicasdel mismo de manera productiva y sostenible. La Altillanura posee suelos poco fértiles, ácidos y propensos a la erosión y degradación estructural; esto ha limitado el desarrollo de su potencial productivo, económico y social. El reto es proyectar el desarrollo agropecuario de la altillanura con un enfoque que mejore la productividad del suelo a través del incremento de la materia orgánica y la biomasa mediante sistemas alternativos como cerdos a campo abierto, donde la contribución de su estiércol y etología son claves. Sin dejar de lado la agricultura familiar, que aporta al desarrollo de la economía local, conservando la cultura y el capital social rural. Es necesario desarrollar modelos donde se optimice el uso de la tierra, se aprovechen los recursos locales, se prioricen a las personas y el suelo sea transformado de manera limpia, productiva y a bajo costo. The objective of this review is to describe the limitations of the agricultural development of the highland based on its soil and to analyze the alternatives for the use and improvement of the soil, associated with the production of pigs in the open field, that can improve the physical, chemical and biological characteristics. of it in a productive and sustainable way. The highland has soils that are not very fertile, acidic and prone to erosion and structural degradation; This has limited the development of its productive, economic and social potential.
