El presente trabajo tiene como objeto revisar las conceptualizaciones acerca del agroecoturismo, con la finalidad de generar un primer acercamiento al estudio de esta tipología turística. El diseño de la investigación fue de tipo documental y se usó la técnica de análisis de contenido. El estudio señala que los orígenes del agroecoturismo se encuentran en el agroturismo y el ecoturismo, lo que ha dificultado su diferenciación y entendimiento. En este sentido, se propone una definición que lo ubica como una modalidad del turismo rural, en la que existen relaciones de interdependencia entre las actividades agrícolas y el medio natural. El estudio señala que los orígenes del agroecoturismo se encuentran en el agroturismo y el ecoturismo, lo que ha dificultado su diferenciación y entendimiento. En este sentido, se propone una definición que lo ubica como una modalidad del turismo rural, en la que existen relaciones de interdependencia entre las actividades agrícolas y el medio natural. Se concluye que el agroecoturismo, como modalidad turística, interioriza las dimensiones del desarrollo sostenible a partir de la conservación del entorno natural y cultural, que combinadas con las actividades de campo y naturaleza constituyen una tipología propia diferenciada y holística del turismo, que encuentra en la biodiversidad su mayor producto. This paper aims to review the representations about Agroecotourism developed in order to generate a first approach to the study of this type of tourism. The research design was a documentary, using the content analysis technique. The study shows that the origins of Agroecotourism are in the agrotourism and the ecotourism, which has hindered their differentiation and understanding. In this sense, we propose a definition that places it as a form of rural tourism, where interdependence relationships among farming activities and the environment are reflected.
