El siguiente trabajo investigativo busca construir un discurso histórico sobre el proceso de conformación y expansión de los paramilitares en el territorio antioqueño, indagando sobre los procesos y etapas que permitieron que un grupo armado, que en un inicio tuvo carácter de autodefensa, llegó a ser un poder para estatal donde ejercía control político, económico y social. El objetivo del escrito es contribuir a la construcción de memoria histórica sobre el conflicto armado colombiano, ampliando la información al publico en general sobre los diversos actores involucrados y los momentos históricos que permitieron que se hicieran con el poder y control territorial. El objetivo del escrito es contribuir a la construcción de memoria histórica sobre el conflicto armado colombiano, ampliando la información al publico en general sobre los diversos actores involucrados y los momentos históricos que permitieron que se hicieran con el poder y control territorial. Por último, exponer como la corrupción interna, la falta de control organizacional y la influencia del narcotráfico, transformó una organización inicialmente de carácter de autodefensa, en uno de los principales grupos ilegales armados de Colombia. The following research work seeks to construct a historical discourse on the process of formation and expansion of the paramilitaries in the territory of Antioquia, inquiring about the processes and stages that allowed an armed group, which initially had a self-defense character, to become a para-state power where it exercised political, economic and social control. The objective of the paper is to contribute to the construction of historical memory about the Colombian armed conflict, expanding the information to the general public about the various actors involved and the historical moments that allowed them to gain power and territorial control. Finally, to expose how internal corruption, lack of organizational control and the influence of drug trafficking, transformed an organization initially of self-defense character, into one of the main illegal armed groups in Colombia.
