RESUMEN El artículo tiene como fin acercarse al concepto de identidad Latinoamericana, teniendo como referente a los hermanos Zapata Olivella, Manuel y Delia quienes recurrieron a sus raíces y orígenes en las tradiciones del pueblo afrodescendiente de nuestro país, así mismo las contribuciones de Delia Zapata Olivella como artista, bailarina, investigadora y su mayor aporte, la docencia por la cual consolido la Licenciatura en Danzas y Teatro en la Universidad Antonio Nariño con el acompañamiento de la actriz y dramaturga Rosario Montaña Cuellar, quienes centraran su estudio en las tradiciones populares del país, legado para el patrimonio inmaterial de Colombia.
