En la Grecia antigua, los conceptos de “salud” y“enfermedad” tenían significados distintos a losque les asignamos hoy en día. Son varios los textosque muestran las particularidades y la diversidadde significados que los griegos le daban aestos términos; entre esos textos, se destaca el famosodiálogo de Platón intitulado Fedón. En estediálogo, cuyo tema central es el relato de la muertede Sócrates, Platón expone una discusión entreSócrates y Cebes, que gira en torno al problemade la naturaleza del alma y, más precisamente,la naturaleza del alma en la condición humana.Allí, Sócrates y Cebes discuten el problema de siel alma es imperecedera y de los efectos que traepara ella el encarnar al cuerpo en la figura humana.En este artículo, me ocupo... In this dialogue,whose central theme is the story of the deathof Socrates, Plato presents a discussion betweenSocrates and Cebes, which revolves around theproblem of the nature of the soul and, moreprecisely, the nature of the soul in the humancondition. There, Socrates and Cebes discussthe problem of whether the soul is imperishableand the effects that incarnating the body in thehuman figure brings to it. In this article, I addressthis discussion, my objective is to defendthe following thesis: both Cebes and Socratesconsider that the soul, when it forms unity withthe body in the human figure, is in a conditionof illness. To do this, I will carry out a hermeneuticalanalysis of Cebes’s objection and Socrates’response to this objection.
