In order to continue with the process of updating and improving knowledge in every aspect related to pulmonology and thoracic surgery, I want to introduce myself to everyone: I am Dr. Elkin Enrique Llanos Sarmiento. In my capacity as President of the Association, I will put all my efforts to improve the conditions of this, in order to promote scientific activities and, therefore, the development of new knowledge in the areas of pulmonology and thorax surgery in search of carry out a promotion of the health conditions of society.For the fulfillment of this objective I will take into account several activities, such as the improvement of the management and development process of the Association's magazine, the implementation of the Association's online platform and future related projects, the implementation of the platform of the Colombian Council of Accreditation and Medical Recertification of Specialists and Allied Professions (CAMEC) for the registration of the corresponding members, the development of the recertification process of the Voluntary Medical Re-certification Program of the Colombian Association of Pneumology and Thoracic Surgery (PReCoNTo) and , finally, maintenance and improvement of traditional scientific-academic activities, as well as the implementation of new important alternatives such as the upcoming thoracic surgery congress. To carry out these activities and to fulfill the goals and objectives, I want to commit all the chapters, and through them all the old and future members of the Association, in order to generate a synergy that facilitates the creation of an academic environment and, through this, of a knowledge based on the discussion from which relevant aspects are improved in relation to procedures, techniques and means within the specialties of pulmonology and thoracic surgery. I am flattered to take on this challenge and to continue working for the benefit of the Association, the members and the other actors involved in our processes. Finally, I want to count, as always, with the active participation of all of you in the future activities to be carried out. Many thanks and success for all.
